Control Unit for Telescope Mount
Cagaš, Martin ; Bidlo, Michal (referee) ; Vašíček, Zdeněk (advisor)
This thesis examines the basic mechanisms and their implementation in creation of a firmware for control units of telescope mounts. The goal of this thesis is to create an autonomous unit supporting all the necessary functions required for scientific astronomy and astrophotography. The unit is based on the combination of a microcontroller, performing complex computational tasks, and FPGA performing time-critical operations. The unit utilizes its own algorithm for determining the current astronomical coordinates on the celestial sphere. A part of the thesis is a definition of own protocol for communication with a connected PC. The outcome of the thesis is an embedded system offering the basic required functionality for astronomical imaging with the space for implementing additional features. The benefit of the thesis is utilization of an FPGA in a topic usually solved by microcontrollers.
Night Sky on Mobile Device
Plešek, Jan ; Dittrich, Petr (referee) ; Koutný, Jiří (advisor)
p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Menlo} This thesis describes concept and implementation of the application designed to observate the night sky in the simple and intuitive way using the concept of augmented reality. Based on the brief specification of the most widespread mobile operation systems, the iOS system was chosen as the implementation platform. The thesis describes methods to calculate the position of celestial objects based on the data gathered from GPS module, magnetometer and accelerometer. Stars, planets and other objects are rendered by the stereographic projection. The user can see celestial objects trough the mobile device display and control the direction of the view by positioning and turning the device. The application could be used for quick orientation in night sky during astronomical observation or educational purposes.
The design of mechanical section of parallactic mounting
Wertheimer, Pavel ; Návrat, Tomáš (referee) ; Krejsa, Jiří (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is a constructional design of a simple parallactic mount as a functional prototype with the possibility of later production. The mount is intended for amateur astrophotography using digital reflex camera with telephoto lenses of shorter focal length (up to 200mm). Emphasis is put mainly on the portability of the mount that means low weight and small size. First part of the thesis covers possible constructional concepts and also deals with kinematics of the chosen variant. The second part deals with the problematic points of the mount itself. The outcome of the thesis is the design of the mount and its complete documentation. Owing to this it is possible to start realization of the functional prototype.
Design of telescope
Hudáková, Kristína ; Paliatka, Peter (referee) ; Sládek, Josef (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with a design solution of an astronomical mirror telescope, also called Newton reflector on the Dobson Altazimuth mount. The design focuses on the determination of appropriate optic parameters and mounting parameters, on the new styling and shape solution with an emphasis on technical, operational, ergonomic and aesthetic requirements. The main benefit of the design is the simplicity of compilation and decompilation of entire device, intuitive control and safe usage and shape compactness of the whole appliance. I designed the device in the light of the fact that it is used mainly in complete darkness, and the colour solution corresponds to the fact.
Plunging Brno into darkness: Measuring the contribution of public lighting to the total luminance of the night sky
Novák, F. ; Baxant, P.
The article deals with the description of measurements of night sky luminance in urban agglomeration with emphasis on the determination of changes in the values of these luminances when public and architectural lighting is temporarily turned off. The measurements took place in Brno, the second largest city in Czech Republic, with the population around 382 thousand. The presented paper is one of the perspectives on the impact of human activity on the surrounding environment and an example of a possible solution to quantify the impact of the introduction of technologies that directly or indirectly affect the environment not only for humans, but also for almost all forms of life.
East and West and Cognition
Koláček, Luboš
of rigorous work Mgr. Luboš Koláček, Ph. D. The work is a specific approximation of the European author to the thought of the West with the East, based on the thinkers he selected on both sides. It presents a reflection of ontological, epistemological, ethical and psychological, sociological and other questions and answers to the problem, indicated by the name itself. It is a kaleidoscopic thinking that, by multiplying the contents in the reflections of the others and the others in the third thinkers, intertwines and unfolds into a huge breadth of ideas. In the work, intentionality is contained in the appropriate network of connections, which represents the West as thinking of explicit meanings and the East as thinking of implicit meanings. The point is to present to the reader not only ready-made statements, but the reader is invited by questions to cooperate in uncovering the unconcealed, i.e. aletheia. It is a hermeneutic method that starts from ready-made answers and only then comes to the questions that are at the same time the background from which the answer arose. It is a special dialogical method that does not want to juxtapose ready-made judgments, but requires the reader to go through this challenge as a co-solver of the question that is to come to the difference between the West and the...
East and West and Cognition
Koláček, Luboš ; Hogenová, Anna (advisor) ; Rybák, David (referee) ; Kalábová, Helena (referee)
The work is a philosophical and necessarily also historical-philosophical comparative analysis of mutually corresponding accents of the issue spanning the period from the 8th century BC to the present, with regard to the "axial period" of cultural "miracle" similarly prosperous cultures and philosophies in the relatively severed countries of East and West. It then deals in more detail with some important and fundamental philosophers and spiritual teachers, related scholars or artists of various disciplines, but also lesser-known personalities, based on general inputs into the deepest depths of thought of these thinkers, all in a relatively intuitive connection, because the scope of work does not allow for a more detailed continuous interpretation of such a wide range of issues. In the end, the author emphasizes, philosophically analyzes and evaluates the most pressing issues of contemporary society. The work should primarily show the Way, not lead, but it is up to the reader / researcher to decide how to approach the text. There is always "some" Enlightenment at the end.
Conception of astronomy in the art and culture at the rudolfinian period
Hanušová, Veronika ; Jarošová, Markéta (advisor) ; Nespěšná Hamsíková, Magdaléna (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to summarize the important persons, places and artefacts of Rudolfians Prague that are connected to an astronomy during the reign of emperor Rudolf II. There are two ways how to look on these astronomic artefacts - as an objects of science and on their own artistic quality, which will be our primar intention. The attention is focused on selected areas where the astronomers lived and worked. These areas are presented in European context. Substantial part of this work is devoted to the subjects related to the study of astronomy, such as astronomical instruments in the field of applied art and in the scientific publications which are carying their own graphic work in the form of graphic attachments. This issue is conceived in conjunction with personalities and social enviroment of Rudolf's II. the imperial court.
